Very interesting post on Harper Studios' blog about the future of book publishing from the perspective of Bob Miller, the imprint's president and publisher. See if you agree.
It Was the Best of Times, It Was the Worst of Times….

You know what, that is why Xlibris is doing so well. The big houses won't even look at your work. I was talking to a woman who wrote a novel three years ago. she told me about the difficulty she had getting a publishing house, any publishing house to look at her manuscript and she came to the conclusion that the rejection were not about her work, they were simply about her lack of fame not her lack of talent. She went to Xlibirs.
If you are not Janet Evanonvich, Ann River Siddons, Alice Walker, Jan Karon or Tony Morrison (and the like)or already famous for having won an election, committed a murder, slept with a politician and/or a political spouse or a star athlete, they won't even give you a second look, let alone a first.
But you never give up you keep on trying 'cause even the best authors, the ones with real talent had to find a way in.
